Web Slices is a new feature in Internet Explorer 8, enabling websites to connect to their users by subscribing to content directly within a webpage. Web Slices behave just like feeds where clients can subscribe to get updates and notify users of changes. The idea is that web sites that traffic in constantly updating information, such as weather, stock, or online auctions, can provide the option for users to select the section of the page containing that information and save it in the favorites bar. If Web Slices are available on the page, a notification icon will appear when you mouseover the content.
