Internet Explorer Tweaks

Set default download path of Internet Explorer.

When the files are downloaded, you are asked whether the file is to be opened or saved on to the disk. The path taken in saving to disk takes the default path. This setting enables you to specify this path. For this, go to "start->run" and enter "regedit" and search the keys listed below. Now, right-click and modify the string value download directory, to set the default download path of internet explorer. After a restart or logoff the changes take effect. This is a tutorial to Set default download path of Internet Explorer.

Steps to Follow

  • First, click the 'Start' button and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

  • Second, go to <b> [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\]</b>, right-click in the open area to create a new String Value "Download Directory"

  • Third, right-click on the "Download Directory" string value and click on "Modify".

  • Finally, enter the desired path in the 'Value Data' field, for example "D:\My Download Directory" and click on 'OK'
