Passwords in Address Bar
Older versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer allowed users to include log-in name and password information in the address bar. Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 and newer versions of Internet Explorer have disabled this feature. The feature was disabled due to the potential for malicious users to exploit a loophole that can trick unwitting victims into thinking that they are accessing a different website than they are actually viewing.
If you want to change Internet Explorer's settings to allow passwords in the address bar, then you will need to enter the Windows Registry and manually change your Internet Explorer settings.
Steps to Follow
- Close all open Microsoft Internet Explorer windows.
- Click "Start" and click "Run" to open a run command box. Type "regedit" in the run box and press "Enter" to open the Windows Registry Editor. Click "Continue" to authorize the program to start.
- Navigate to the following registry key using the registry browser pane at the far left of the program window: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_HTTP_USERNAME_PASSWORD
- Left-click the registry key in Step 3 to display associated registry values in the right window pane.
- Right-click the right window pane and choose "New => DWORD (32-bit) Value." Name the new value "iexplore.exe."
- Right-click the iexplore.exe DWORD value and click "Modify" to open the DWORD edit window.
- Change the "Value Data" field to 0. Click "OK" to save your change.

How to clear the Browser Cache in IE9
Your IE9 has a folder in which certain items that have been downloaded are stored for future access. Graphic images , photographs, and even entire web pages are examples of cache items. When going to a page on a website, your computer will check its cache folder first to see if it already has those images and, if so, it won't take the time to download them again. This makes for a faster loading of the page. Cache folders can get quite large, however, and can occupy 40-to-50-to-100 megabytes or more of hard drive space, storing graphics for sites you may never visit again, so it may be wise for those with storage concerns to empty the cache periodically. That will also enable the browser to access updated web pages without the older cache item interfering. Here is a simple tutorial for clearing your IE9 browser cache.
Steps To Follow
- Open the browser by clicking the 'e' logo on your desktop or task bar.
- In the upper right hand corner of the browser, click the icon that looks like a small gear which is the "Tools" button.
- Click the "Internet Options" link.
- In the browsing history section, click the "Delete" button.
- Place a check mark in the boxes for the data that you wish to delete. At this point, you select the type of data you want to clear.
- After selecting the data you want to remove, press the "delete" button.
- Click the "ok" button on the window opened in step 4 above. You should see a notice at the bottom of the page stating that the selected browsing history has been cleared.
- This task should now be complete. If not, review and repeat the steps as needed. Submit any questions using the section at the bottom of this page.

IE Spell
ieSpell - A Spell Checker for Internet Explorer
Introduction
ieSpell is a free Internet Explorer browser extension that spell checks text input boxes on a webpage. It should come in particularly handy for users who do a lot of web-based text entry (e.g. web mails, forums, blogs, diaries). Even if your web application already includes spell checking functionality, you might still want to install this utility because it is definitely much faster than a server-side solution. Plus you get to store and use your personal word list across all your applications, instead of maintaining separate ones on each application.
The program installs as a new button in the IE toolbar after filling in a form, just hit the ieSpell button and it pops up a dialog, similar to the MS Word spell check.

Internet Explorer Tips
Error "Your security setting level puts your computer at risk"?
You are getting this message because certain security settings are at a lower level than is recommended. By default, Internet Explorer has a minimum level for some settings that can help protect your computer from websites that are trying to install malicious or unwanted software without your knowledge or permission.
If you set IE's Internet or Restricted Zone settings to an option that is not recommended the following will appear which replaces your home page and the information bar will display a warning.
The IE team have taken this step, which some see as nagging, because reality is that users were lowering their security settings for whatever reason, and then forgetting to increase them again, or malware or third party programmes were lowering IE's security settings without the user's knowledge. Far too many ISP help desks, and other computer support providers were advising users to reduce their security settings as a troubleshooting step, but not telling the user to put them back up again when finished.
