How to Change a Search Provider on Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer's pre-installed search box lets search the web without having to visit a search engine. The search box is also customizable. Yahoo, AOL, Google and Bing are just a few of the popular search providers you may want to use. With Internet Explorer, you can use any search provider.

  • Open Internet Explorer. Closely look at the Internet Explorer search box to find the downward arrow. Click on the arrow.

  • Select "Manage Search Providers." If using Internet Explorer 7, select "Change Search Defaults."

  • Select the search provider you want to use from the list. Click "Set Default," and then click "OK." If you do not see the search provider you want to use, click "Find More Providers."
  • Click on the search provider you want to use. Click "Add Provider" when the pop-up box appears. Return to the "Manage Search Providers" screen. Click on the provider then click "Set Default."
